Aluminum Oxide Blasting Media

Aluminum oxide is an abrasive medium used in sandblasting.  Aluminum oxide is considered an aggressive and very hard abrasive.  When sandblasting with aluminum oxide, this process uses small particles of aluminum oxide to strip surfaces or clean.

Using a sandblasting gun, this abrasive is blasted at high speeds out of a nozzle and onto the surface being stripped or cleaned.  This method is effective in removing dirt, paint, grease, rust and other contaminants from a variety of surfaces.  It is commonly used on stainless steel components and precision aviation.

Aluminum oxide sandblasting creates an abrasive action that quickly removes paint and rust from substrates while leaving the surface smooth.  Aluminum oxide is a popular blasting medium because it is effective and safe to use.  Because of its hardness, the particles shatter minimally making aluminum oxide omit less dust than other abrasive media.  Also, it can be reused multiple times.

Aluminum oxide used in sandblasting ranges in granule size from coarse to fine, allowing for applications like the stripping and deep cleaning of surfaces.

At BlastAndTumble.com, we offer a wide range of grit sizes in aluminum oxide.   We offer #16, 24, 30, 46, 60, 80, 90, 100, 120, 150, 180, 220 and 240.
